Low

Current conditions on the Trinity are LOW and CLEAR!!! The up side is there are a fair amount of Steelhead spread throughout the system, both natives and hatchery fish. Fishing pressure in certain places is very high, with the current conditions and the heavy pressure these fish don’t come easy. Sloppy presentation and lack of stealth will not get the job done. This opens up a good opportunity to hire a guide and work on technique and presentation, whether you want to nymph or swing the fish are accepting nothing but you’re BEST!!!

Variable Conditions

Fished Mon. and Tues. with Dan from Ashland, conditions went from good visability and rainy Mon. morning to completely blown from Canyon Creek down by mid morning. Even with the bad conditions we were able to hook several and land two nice wild adults on Mon and with clearing conditions on Tues. we hooked several more and landed a nice wild buck adult and a half pounder. Shaping up to be good on the Trinity this year so far!

They’re Here!

They’re Chrome, they’re “phat”, they’re here! Swung this beauty up this morning using traditional flies and traditional methods. No bobber’s required…saw quite a few others on my scouting mission. I can show you a little less traveled Trinity if you’re up to it ( there are no secret spots on the Trinity) using traditional methods with both single handed and two handed rods. If you would like to book a boat ride and bobber trip I can do that too! I don’t discriminate.

Trinity in Full Swing

I fished with Mike and Scott Friday and Saturday. We were able to swing up several nice steelhead on Friday, Saturday was a little tougher with the rising river. The highlight of Saturday was a Chinook of about 15 lbs. crushing a purple egg sucking leach on the swing. After a 5 minute battle the king got camera shy. Awesome! More than 4 inches of rain fell in Douglas City on Saturday night and the Trinity went out from top to bottom for the first time this season, the top should settle back in today or tomorrow and the fishing will be in full swing.
